Irish and Scottish folk music in the woods
by Dag Westling, SWEDEN
Dag Westling is well known as a singer and instrumentalist from the group
Quilty, which since many years are among Sweden’s foremost in Irish traditional
music. Dag also plays regularly as a solo artist. On guitar, five string banjo, tin
whistle and vocals he performs a programme of Irish and Scottish folk songs. Dag’s
genuine feeling for Irish music receives a multifaceted expression in his
instrumental virtuosity and emotional singing.
Dag Westling filled the house at the library in Simrishamn. We enjoyed the musical experience greatly, but also the stories about the songs, the instruments and Dag as a person. The variety of instruments made the concert dynamic and the high level of the performance made this night an experience we will remember for a long time.”
